How to wear and remove masks safely?

COVID-19 is still spreading at a significantly high rate all across the globe. The World Health Organisation (WHO) reports that the novel strain of coronavirus has infected more than 90 million people and resulted in the unfortunate demise of almost 9 lakh people in 216 countries (as per 9th September,2020).

Sadly, India has experienced a massive surge in the number of COVID-19 cases with concerned authorities reporting more than 90,000 daily cases for many consecutive days. This has also put the country at the 2nd place in the list of worst affected countries, just behind The United States of America.

Nevertheless, amidst the rising COVID-19 cases, the country has been compelled to gradually unlock the economy in order to allow people to earn their livelihood. In such a scenario, people are strongly suggested to follow all the safety and precautionary measures so as to “minimize” the risk of infection. One such measure is always wearing a safety mask like N95 mask whenever out in public places.

What is the importance of wearing safety masks?

COVID-19 is a contagious disease that infects people via droplets released by an infected person during talking, sneezing, or coughing. A safety mask acts as a barrier and protects others from the risk of potential virus transmission. For instance, masks like N95 contain multiple safety layers that ensure complete protection from harmful foreign substances.

Wearing a safety mask also aids in restricting or limiting the droplets from escaping and getting on to the other person. Moreover, it also protects the person as it serves as a shield and stops the virus from entering the body via mouth or nose. For instance, the best safety masks like SAFEKIND N95 boast a ProGuard 5 layer technology that filters out harmful bacteria and viruses.

Tips to follow when wearing and removing masks

Global healthcare bodies like the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and World Health Organisation (WHO) recommend that people should always wear a mask in public places or when meeting people other than their family. They also put stern emphasis on appropriate handling of masks. Some tips recommend by CDC include:

  • Wash your hands properly with soap and water before putting on the mask.
